Petrified Forest NP

Petrified Forest is another National Park that is really more than one park.  The southern end of the park is where you find most of the petrified logs while the northern end is mostly the spectacular vistas of Painted Desert.

We have seen petrified logs before in other area of the country.  Usually one or two or maybe even a small cluster.  We'd never seen this many over a vast area.  Some small pieces all the way to 40 foot trunks.  The short stroll near the southern visitor center is very impressive.

Pictures will not show the vastness or beauty of the painted desert area, but I'll post some anyway.

Yup, That's me next to the log.
